My vision is for Uxbridge to remain the kind of community where people can build a life, not simply a place they love but eventually have to leave because they can no longer afford it or find the housing, employment or services they need.

Responsible Growth & Housing for Every Stage of Life

I support strategic, thoughtful development that respects the character of Uxbridge while addressing the housing needs of our community.

That means encouraging a greater variety of housing options, including accessible downsizing opportunities for seniors, retirement communities, low-rise condominiums, apartments, loft-style housing, and attainable options that give our younger generations an opportunity to stay in, or return to, Uxbridge.

Growth should be strategic and supported by the infrastructure and services necessary to sustain it. I don't believe growth simply for the sake of growth.

Helping Seniors Stay in the Community They Love

Our seniors helped build this community. I want them to have the opportunity to remain part of it through the different stages of their lives.

Housing is an important part of that, but so are accessibility, transportation, safe sidewalks and crossings, recreation, social connection, and the ability to access the services they need. I will advocate for decisions that consider how we can make Uxbridge a community in which people can truly age in place.

Investing in Our Youth

Young people shouldn't simply inherit our community, they should have a voice in shaping its future.

I would like to strengthen opportunities for youth leadership and engagement and create meaningful ways for young people to participate in their community. I also want to encourage connections between students and local businesses, agriculture, entrepreneurship, and emerging careers so young people can begin to see opportunities for their futures right here in Uxbridge.

Supporting Small Business & Revitalizing Our Downtown

A vibrant downtown is essential to the economic and social health of Uxbridge.

I would encourage stronger collaboration between the Township, the BIA, Chamber of Commerce, and local business community to attract and retain independent businesses, address storefront vacancies, support entrepreneurs, and continue enhancing the beauty and experience of our downtown.

Our goal shouldn't simply be to fill storefronts. It should be to create a downtown people actively want to visit, explore, shop in, and return to.

Tourism as Economic Development

Uxbridge already has many of the ingredients of an exceptional Ontario destination, our trail system, farms and rural landscape, restaurants, breweries and cideries, arts, events and beautiful downtown.

I would encourage greater collaboration between the Township, Chamber, BIA, Durham Tourism, agricultural community and local businesses to market these experiences together rather than individually.

I would also like to explore ways of encouraging more accommodation options, including bed-and-breakfasts and other appropriate short-term visitor accommodations, so visitors have more opportunities to stay overnight. When visitors stay longer, more of their spending can remain in our local economy.

Strengthening the Future of Agriculture

Agriculture is an important part of both our economy and our identity.

I would like to explore opportunities and partnerships that help local farms innovate and extend their growing seasons, including greenhouse and agricultural technologies where appropriate.

I also want our young people to see agriculture as an exciting career of the future, one increasingly connected to technology, entrepreneurship, sustainability and innovation. Partnerships between our schools, farmers and agricultural organizations could help expose students to those opportunities.

My Approach

I recognize that one councillor cannot accomplish all of these things alone, nor should a candidate pretend otherwise.

My role would be to bring ideas forward, ask the right questions, advocate for Ward 3, build partnerships, and work collaboratively with Council, Township staff, businesses, community organizations, residents, and other levels of government.

My overall philosophy is simple: protect what makes Uxbridge special while thoughtfully building the community we need for the next generation.

That means responsible spending, strategic growth, a thriving local economy, and a community where our youth can build their future, our families can prosper, and our seniors can continue to call Uxbridge home.
